The Massachusetts workers’ compensation statute is a no fault wage replacement system, found in Chapter 152 of the Massachusetts General Laws and administered by the Department of Industrial Accidents, that provides medical and financial benefits to injured workers who are unable to perform their job because of a work-related injury, whether that be physical or psychological in nature.

Weekly workers’ compensation benefits are due to injured workers when they are unable to perform their job. Benefits can come in a few forms, such as temporary total disability, temporary partial disability, or permanent and total disability. Additionally, injured workers are entitled to medical benefits, provided those benefits are reasonable, necessary and causally related to the industrial injury. An injured worker can also get obtain monetary benefits for loss of function, disfigurement and scarring. Vocational rehabilitation can also be possible.
